Tuesday Morn

*This is another poem that does not have a date. However, I do know that I wrote this shortly after September 11, 2001.

It was a normal day
I complained as the alarm buzzed
Very early this Tuesday morn
Never thought that would be the last I’d hear of it

I took a shower
I hate when the cold water
Hits me first thing this Tuesday morn
Never thought that would be the last chill I’d receive

I woke my hubby and two children
They groaned and complained
“I hate getting up this Tuesday morn”
Never thought that would be the last I’d scorn them

I was on my way to work
Stupid red lights piss me off
I was barely on time this Tuesday morn
Never thought that would be the last I’d stop there

I went up the elevator
Geez, more elevator music
More annoyance on this Tuesday morn
Never thought that would be the last song I’d hear

I walked into my office
It is just too quiet
Very, very quiet this Tuesday morn
Never thought that would be the last I’d feel silence

I felt the floor shake
What could that be
Disturbing me on this Tuesday morn
Never thought that would be the last thing I’d see

I looked out the window
A plane was headed for me
What will my family say this Tuesday morn?
Never thought that would be the last thing I’d think

I was crying inside
As flames engulfed me
Why did I have to die this Tuesday morn?
Never thought that would be the last day I’d have on Earth
